Celebrating Global Diversity Awareness Month as we Aim to Build New Economy Leaders

October marks Global Diversity Awareness Month, a time to celebrate and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures, experiences, and perspectives that propel people to thrive. In the evolving New Economy, diversity is not just a moral imperative—it’s a competitive advantage. Organizational leaders who foster inclusion and develop emotionally intelligent and missional consciousness are more deeply positioned to succeed in business and society than ever before.

At Brentley Wright Consulting, leadership in the New Economy refuels profits and productivity by creating environments where every voice and skill is integrated while contributing to its purpose. This means constructing healthy internal policies that reduce and eliminate workplace inequity. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are cornerstones of this mission. They drive innovation, enhance decision-making, and create cultures of belonging, critical for industry sustainability.

Why New Economy Leaders Are Diverse

Change is inevitable. Today, leaders are expected to have more than just technical expertise. They must also possess emotional and relational intelligence deployed by the mission. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is a crucial skill that allows leaders to understand and manage their emotions and perspectives while empathizing with others. Relational intelligence (RQ) is a necessary skill for leaders to manage workplace relationships properly. This is essential for creating conscious environments where diverse teams can collaborate for the overarching purpose of the business.

However, these intelligence components alone aren’t enough. Leaders also need a missional focus—a clear sense of purpose that transcends short-term gains. The New Economy is desperate for missional leaders committed to a vision that includes diversity as a strategic priority and ensures that it is woven into the fabric of organizational culture. A missional leader is a conscious one.

The Commitment to Developing the Next Wave of Leaders

BWC has a purpose and is committed to developing the next generation of leaders who are ready to incorporate this triad reality. Our approach is distinct and rooted in the belief that diversity is not a checkbox but a powerful tool for empowering individuals to bring their professional selves to work. We partner with small and medium-sized organizations to cultivate leaders who are consciously competent in the needs of their teams and the culturally diverse communities they serve.

This Global Diversity Month, we urge organizations to go beyond short-term celebrations. We must move forward with certainty and courage to ensure our leaders are Missional, Healthy, EQ-engaged, and equipped to navigate the complexities of the New Economy.
